VA Announces 2026 Rollout of Federal EHR System at 9 New Facilities in the Midwest and Alaska

The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has confirmed in a recent press release that 9 additional medical centers—including locations in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Alaska—will implement the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in 2026 as part of its accelerated deployment schedule.

The facilities include:

  • Cincinnati VAMC and Cincinnati VAMC-Fort Thomas (KY)
  • Chillicothe VAMC and Dayton VAMC (OH) • Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC (OH)
  • Fort Wayne, Marion, and Indianapolis VAMCs (IN)
  • Alaska VA Healthcare System (Anchorage, AK)

These sites join 4 Michigan facilities previously announced in late 2024.

The Federal EHR, developed with Oracle Health and used by the Department of Defense (DOD), offers integrated records across VA and DOD systems—improving data exchange, care coordination, and patient experience.

“This modern medical record system will bring Veterans enhanced care, safety, and convenience,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins.

To ensure smooth implementation, site selection was driven by collaboration among VA leadership, clinical stakeholders, and EHR experts. The VA is also adopting a standardized national baseline for workflows and technology integrations, streamlining decision-making and paving the way for future optimizations.

Full nationwide deployment is expected by 2031, with this expansion marking a significant step toward seamless care delivery for veterans and their providers.
