Acadia launches psychiatric joint venture

Acadia Healthcare and Ochsner Health System have reached a definitive agreement to create a joint-venture acute psychiatric hospital located in the greater New Orleans area. It is scheduled to open in 2018.

The new 82-bed facility in LaPlace, La., will be built in the current location of an Ochsner emergency department, with Acadia providing the investment to reconstruct the building and manage the facility.

In a statement, Joey Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Acadia Healthcare, said the new facility is a fitting complement to its other locations in the state. Other recent joint venture partnerships for Acadia include facilities in Massachusetts and Memphis.

Louisiana-based Ochsner Health System is a large not-for-profit system with 28 hospitals and more than 60 health centers.
